Route 138 West from Trois-Rivières follows the St. Lawrence through villages with evocative names: Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade (ice fishing for tommy cod in winter), Batiscan and Yamachiche.

Yamachiche is a village of 3,000 with a distinct culture tied to Maurician joual dialect. The village is renowned for its local expressions and attachment to popular Quebec culture. The road between Trois-Rivières and Yamachiche is one of the most bucolic in Mauricie.
