The Itinerary

Route 138 between Tadoussac and Baie-Comeau is arguably the most beautiful stretch of the Côte-Nord. The St. Lawrence here is a true marine estuary where belugas, minke whales and fin whales come to feed every summer.

From Tadoussac's historic wharf overlooking the meeting of the Saguenay and the river, the road climbs quickly to Les Bergeronnes and Les Escoumins — two of the world's best shore-based whale-watching sites. Midway, the Pointe-des-Monts lighthouse, alone on its peninsula, is one of Quebec's most photographed.

Baie-Comeau is the gateway to the Manicouagan crater region, with massive hydro dams and salmon outfitters. It is also the launching point for Route 389 and Fermont further north.
