The Itinerary

Route 111 linking Rouyn-Noranda to Amos crosses the heart of Abitibi, a region forged by mines, forests and early 20th-century settlers. The landscape is flat, immense, dotted with blue lakes and birch forests.

Amos is the regional capital of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Its circular-plan Cathedral of the Holy Angels is unique in Canada. La Vérendrye wildlife reserve to the south is accessible by heading south, offering pike lakes and black bears.
