The Itinerary

At the very tip of the Gaspé Peninsula, Forillon National Park (Parks Canada) is nicknamed "the end of the world". 200-metre cliffs plunge into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, sheltering grey seals, gannets and blue whales offshore.

From Rivière-au-Renard, the north entrance, scenic Route 132 follows the ocean for 25 km to Cap-Bon-Ami, whose pebble beach beneath vertical cliffs is one of Quebec's iconic images. The Graves trail (16 km round trip) or the short version to the lighthouse point (4 km) are classics.

The south entrance at Cap-aux-Os accesses Penouille beach — a 1.8 km sand spit perfect for family swimming in surprisingly warm water (up to 22 °C in summer). Whale-watching cruises depart from Grande-Grave wharf, a restored Jersey fishing village.
