The Itinerary
This route links Quebec City to the start of the Gaspé Peninsula along the south shore of the St. Lawrence — a country road hugging the river for dozens of kilometres.
After crossing the Chaudière-Appalaches agricultural plains, Route 132 takes over at Rivière-du-Loup. The river widens, tides grow dramatic, and fishing villages follow one another to Rimouski.
Rimouski, a lively port city, is the perfect launching pad for the Bas-Saint-Laurent, the Saguenay fjords or continuing on to the Gaspésie. Parc national du Bic, just west of town, offers spectacular cliff hikes and seal watching.
