Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is Quebec's hot air balloon destination. Every August, the Montgolfières Festival attracts 600,000 visitors and 150 balloons of all shapes and colours in the Richelieu sky.
The city is also the southern terminus of the Chambly Canal (Parks Canada), ideal for kayaking from Fort Chambly. The Richelieu River, wide and slow, is perfect for sailing and motorboating.
