The Itinerary

Montérégie is the region of the Montérégie hills — those small extinct volcanoes poking through the St. Lawrence plain. Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Rougemont, Mont-Saint-Grégoire: 45 minutes from Montreal, it's apple paradise in autumn.

Orchards open for picking from late August. The Mont-Saint-Hilaire biosphere reserve (McGill property) offers magnificent fall-colour trails. In Rougemont, cider houses and farm stands follow one another along Route 112.
