The Itinerary

A perfect loop around the island of Montreal for a day escape without going far. Head west via the Médéric-Martin or Viau bridge, cross Laval and reach Lac des Deux-Montagnes at Saint-Eustache.

Oka National Park, with its sand dunes and beach on Lac des Deux-Montagnes, is the most accessible beach-nature surprise from Montreal. The Cistercian Abbey of Oka (founded 1881) is famous for its Port-Salut cheese.
