The Itinerary

Leave Montreal via the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel and head toward Quebec City on Highway 40, then swing north along the St. Lawrence River for one of Quebec's most spectacular road trips.

From Baie-Saint-Paul onward, the landscape transforms dramatically. The Laurentian foothills tumble toward the river through narrow valleys, cliffs and breathtaking panoramas. The Chemin des Coudres, Route 138 lined with old churches and ancestral farms, and the villages of Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive and Les Éboulements unfold like living paintings.

La Malbaie is the heart of Charlevoix: a casino, world-class spa, fine dining and access to the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie national park. Nature lovers can extend to Tadoussac for unforgettable whale watching in the St. Lawrence estuary.
