Head north from the Laurentians for an unforgettable escape to Saint-Michel-des-Saints, the gateway to Lanaudière's wild backcountry. This 135-km road trip passes through ever-changing landscapes: wooded hills, shimmering lakes and charming villages along the way.

From Saint-Jérôme or Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, take Route 329 north. The road follows beautiful Lac l'Achigan then climbs toward the Lanaudière highlands. Stop in Saint-Donat to admire Lac Archambault, one of Québec's most scenic lakes.

The final stretch to Saint-Michel-des-Saints winds through boreal forest with breathtaking views of Réservoir Taureau — a vast body of water that appears dramatically around a bend like an unexpected gift.

In Saint-Michel-des-Saints, activities are plentiful: kayaking, canoeing, brook trout fishing, hiking in the Mastigouche wildlife reserve, and lakeside chalet rentals. The perfect place to unwind far from city life.

Return via Route 131 south for a different panorama through Saint-Côme and Rawdon — add about 2.5 hours to your drive.
