Route 131 north passes through Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Sainte-Émélie-de-l'Énergie (Rouge River rafting hub), then climbs to Saint-Zénon — Quebec's highest year-round inhabited village at 393 m. Parc régional des Sept-Chutes from Saint-Zénon features the famous 60 m Maskinongé River waterfall and the Five Summits trail (10 km) with 360° views.
The Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve (Sépaq) extends the wilderness east. In Saint-Donat, Lac Archambault and Le Baluchon Éco-Villégiature make the region a four-season relaxation hotspot.
