The Itinerary
40 minutes south of Sherbrooke, the small town of Coaticook hosts one of the Eastern Townships' biggest tourism hits: Parc de la Gorge de Coaticook and its nighttime multimedia trail Foresta Lumina, created by Moment Factory.
By day, the park boasts North America's longest pedestrian suspension bridge (169 m, 50 m above the river). Family trails, waterfall viewpoints and caves round out the visit. The surrounding farmland produces the famous Coaticook cheese and artisanal ice cream rated among Quebec's best.
Route 141 toward Compton leads to Cidrerie La Pomme du Saint-Laurent and the Domaine Ives Hill gourmet shop. Further south, Stanstead — a border town with the Haskell Opera House straddling the Quebec–Vermont line — is worth the detour.
