The Itinerary
The north shore of Lake Saint-Jean between Alma and Dolbeau-Mistassini is wilder and less touristy than the south shore. Route 169 crosses blueberry farmland and boreal forests before reaching Dolbeau.
Dolbeau-Mistassini is the world capital of the wild blueberry. The Western Festival and Blueberry Festival (August) make it a lively summer destination. Pointe-Taillon Park, accessible from Péribonka, is one of Quebec's finest.
