The Itinerary

20 minutes west of Rimouski, Parc national du Bic (Sépaq) packs into 33 km² everything that makes the Bas-Saint-Laurent magic: rocky capes plunging into the river, sandy coves, huge tides and harbour seal colonies hauling out on the mudflats at low tide.

Pic Champlain, at 346 m, offers one of maritime Quebec's finest panoramas: the river, Île-aux-Basques, Île du Bic, and on clear days the Laurentides 60 km to the north. Hike up (4 km trail) or take the summer shuttle.

L'Anse-à-l'Orignal, Pointe-aux-Épinettes and Cap-à-l'Orignal are accessible by bike on the park's trail network. The western sector around Cap-à-l'Orignal is ideal for sea kayaking among seals. At Saint-Fabien-sur-Mer just west of the park, waterfront cottages and pebble beaches draw photographers at sunset.
