The Itinerary

The Saguenay Fjord's south shore, reached via Route 170, offers one of Quebec's most arresting viewpoints: the Notre-Dame-du-Saguenay statue perched 180 metres above the fjord's dark waters atop Cap Trinité.

Access is via the Baie-Éternité sector of Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay (Sépaq). The Statue trail (7.2 km round trip) is demanding but rewards with an unforgettable view. For easier walking, the Plage trail (1 km) follows a sandy bay at the foot of the cliffs.

L'Anse-Saint-Jean is one of Quebec's most beautiful villages: a covered bridge famously depicted on the old $1,000 bill, L'Anse microbrewery, marina, and zodiac cruises along the cliffs. In winter, Mont-Édouard offers some of eastern Canada's best backcountry skiing.
